Firewalls are becoming common place in the building industry as we see an increase in attached Townhouses and Duplex developments. A fire wall is designed to provide an occupancy with a minimum Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of 60/60/60 for Class 1 buildings (Residential Dwellings) which translates to 1 hour of fire protection. These walls can be a simple block work masonry wall or a specialised fire wall system that have been design and tested to comply with the Building Code of Australia and must be inspected by a Private Certifier or a QBCC Licensed Fire Wall Inspector once installed. If you’re thinking of developing Townhouses or a building a Duplex, contact our office to discuss it further Fire Wall Options with one of our Certifiers.
